	There are people who question whether or not the US really landed men on the moon.  I didn't have an opinion about it one way or another until I read DARK MOON, Apollo and the Whistle Blowers by Mary Bennett and David S. Percy.  These folks did their homework on this book; the scope and detail are amazing.  Having read it, you may believe it much more likely that the landings were faked, as I now do.  How come?  Consider just a few examples... - Moon photos    With no atmosphere on the moon, it is an environment of stark contrast between bright light and dark shadow.  There is no record of any photographic lighting or reflectors being taken to the moon.  Study of many of the photos released by NASA however, indicates multiple areas where fill-in lighting has been used to brighten up areas which otherwise seemingly should be dark.  The well known photo of the astronaut descending the ladder from the lander to the lunar surface is on the shaded side of the craft and should be in darkness,yet it is well lit. - The cameras  Normal Hasselblad cameras, off the store shelf so to speak, were strapped to the astronauts chests.  There were no aiming devices on these cameras.  There were no light meters built into the cameras and evidently no light meters were used by the astronauts at all.  The shutter speed and aperture setting had to be set manually, meaning someone had to guess what the proper exposure settings were.  This in an environment of blazing sunlight and inky shadows where the men had to have gold plated visors to protect their eyes.  Yet virtually all the photographs, rolls and rolls of them, came out perfectly composed and lit. - The film  Most of the photographic film used was ordinary Kodak Ektachrome, the same as used on earth.  No provision was made for the extreme temperatures of the lunar environment for either the film or the cameras.  The film chosen was the one which would print the best in National Geographic magazine. - The temperatures  With no atmosphere on the moon, temperatures in the sunlight could go up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit, while temperatures in the shade could go down to far below zero. - The shadows  Study of moon photos seems to show shadows which go in multiple directions in the same photos, indicating either more than one light source or a single light source much closer than the sun.  The lighting in some photos seems to be brighter in some areas and falls off into darkness in others.  These factors are consistent with an enclosed and artificially lit studio. - The stars  Stars are totally missing from all the photos taken on the moon. -The Landscape  None of the photos of any of the landings seem to show any land masses which are any distance away.  By this I mean there are no views of distant mountains.  It's all just rolling hills which appear to be covered with flour.  But the moon has plenty of mountains and it seems as if some of them should have been visible in the distance.  This lack of distant mountains would be consistent with the "moon photos" being taken in a studio. - The Lunar Lander   Parachutes could not be used to land on the moon because there is no atmosphere, so the lunar lander was equipped with a retro-rocket to slow its descent to the surface.   This rocket burned hot enough to melt rock, yet the moon photos show essentially no crater at all under the lander.  Look for yourself at the photographs of the lunar lander sitting on the surface of the moon.  There should be a big crater under the lander where this powerful rocket motor blasted down with enough force to allow the lander to settle gently on the lunar surface. - The Rocket  The launching power claimed for the Saturn V rocket was such that it could easily have been used to launch the next generation space shuttles.  Yet the space shuttle got newly designed rockets and now can only launch one-sixth as much weight as the Saturn V.  Does this indicate that claims for the Saturn V were bogus? -What Was NOT Done  If you think about it, there were some simple experiments that could have been done to show that they were really on the moon.  The moon is supposed to have no atmosphere.  In such an environment a feather should fall as fast as a rock.  A parachute could be shown to not work.  Smoke from a smoke bomb would not rise in the normal way, if at all.  At one sixth the gravity of earth they could have easily lifted things weighing hundreds of pounds on earth.  Thermometers could have been placed next to each other, one in the sun and one in the shade, and they should have recorded very different temperatures.  Stones could be thrown amazing distances. - The Cold War  The authors show repeatedly how the Russians and Americans were working together, not against each other.  They conclude that the cold war was largely a fake, set up to prod money out of the governments.  For example, people freaked out when the Russians launched their sputnik satellite before the US had put anything up in space.  Massive funding went to NASA right after this so we could "catch up" to the Soviets.  Turns out we had things ready to launch but purposely waited for the Russians to launch first precisely because of the funding that would be made available.   This particular point is significant to me because other conspiracy books, such as Gary Allen's classic None  Dare Call it Conspiracy,and National Suicide by Anthony Sutton go into great detail about how "Insiders" in parts of industry, finance and government in the US have secretly cooperated with the Communists. - The Radiation  The Van Allen belts which surround the earth are packed with highly radioactive material such that any living being passing through them is likely to get "swiss cheesed" with radioactive particles unless shielding, such as multiple inches of lead, are used.  Apollo had no shielding at all.  None of the photographic film sent to the moon appeared to suffer streaks or clouding from radiation effects. - More Space Trips  After the Apollo program,  no manned space flights have left the earth's outer atmosphere.  Is it because it is now known that it would be fatal to do so using current technology? -National Security and Secret Agent James Bond   Many people have pointed out the fact that faking the moon landings would involve multi thousands of people.  Why haven't they come foreword to tell what they know?  One simple answer is "National Security".  People in high security positions are required to take an oath not to reveal what they know.  Getting into space was seen as critical to the security of the country.  Now consider that at the time of the Apollo program people were enjoying watching "secret agent" shows like "Mission; Impossible" and James Bond "007" movies.  Mr. Bond, as a secret agent, has a license to kill and has a variety of secret weapons.  People are required to promise not to tell the "national security" secrets they learn as part of their work.  It seems likely that workers are told not to reveal the national security secrets they learn of as part of their work or that a real Mr. Bond will show up and collect their bond, which is their life.  Deaths can be made to look like accidents or suicides.  And no real investigation will be made even if a death seems suspicious because "national security" can be invoked which trumps any local or state authority.  Interestingly, in one of the Bond movies from 1971, Diamonds are Forever, Sean Connery is pursued across a studio movie set where fake moon footage is being filmed.  He escapes by crashing a lunar rover through the wall of the studio and out into the Nevada desert! -  Media, Government and Corporations  Here again we see the cozy relationship between media, government and big corporations.  Media gets great stories from government and financial support from corporations in the form of advertising and in return paints the images which the government and the corporations want the people to see and believe.  Big corporations get favorable legislation and huge government contracts and frequently hire the very government employees who helped them get the contract so they, too, can get in on the fat payoff.  Government gets more power than it was ever intended to have by the manipulation of the perceptions of the people through "news", advertising and movies.  They all get to lie, cheat and steal knowing that their partners in crime will cover their backs. - One Last Insult  In August of 2006 NASA announced that it has somehow "lost" the original video recordings of the TV transmissions from the moon.  They also claimed that the original video transmissions were of much higher quality than what was seen on TV, but that much fidelity was lost because the only video transfer mechanism they could figure out was to point a TV camera at a video screen showing the images from the moon!  We are supposed to believe that NASA could get to the moon and transmit high quality video images across the vastness of space but then have no clue as how to wire one video system to another!   How strange that NASA never bothered to show the world these high quality videos documenting their achievements, particularly whenever they were seeking new funding...and then simply lost them!  We as a society somehow managed to preserve videos of The Honeymooners and Ernie Kovacks but not the original tapes of one of the greatest claimed scientific achievements in all of history. - What this means  The Apollo program to land men on the moon is another example of how closer examination of our cozy assumptions about news, history, government and "science"  can turn up glaring inconsistencies.  If countless numbers of people in governments, industry and media were very likely involved in a scam of such huge proportions, then can we afford to simplistically trust anything they tell us today?  A prime objective of this web site is to demonstrate the necessity, for our own welfare, and that of our children and society as a whole, of sincere searching for truth.  Potentially the entire scam, of huge proportions, was a test run for even bigger capers.  If insiders can impose a fabricated virtual reality on us then we can be made to dance to the piper's tune right down the path to utter destruction.
